Brief Description

The ZIOL2401 is a smart power solution using a line driver/level shifter IC with two independent I/O channels providing a wide range of configurable system features. It addresses the physical layer of sensor/actuator systems in factory automation. It is especially designed to support the communication standard IO-Link. For IO-Link applications, specific functionality for Master and Device mode operation has been implemented.
The IC provides a wide range of configurable system features. For example, the output slew rate is adjustable in order to achieve excellent EMC behavior. The maximum current driven by the output stages can be set to a value that fits best the needs of the application.
The output drivers are push-pull stages which reach in tandem mode an RDSon of less than 3.3Ω at all operational temperatures in tandem mode.
The configuration is stored in an on-chip EEPROM and automatically loaded into the IC's control register during power up. The IC also provides status information, such as overload and over temperature. An SPI interface supports access to configuration and status registers.
To minimize the number of devices needed for an application, the IC contains a DC/DC converter with an adjustable output voltage from 3V to 15V and a maximum continuous load current of 50mA.
The IC is fabricated in a powerful CMOS Mixed Signal Technology that allows supply voltages up to 40V. The EEPROM read/write functionality is guaranteed within the entire operating temperature range in combination with a low-voltage core supply of 3.3V.
