Power Applications Engineer (m/f)
This position provides broad exposure to new and exciting technologies and applications by positioning the engineer as a consultant and problem solver to strategic ZMDI customers.
In this role, you will have early access to ZMDI‘s product development plans and the opportunity to assist ZMDI customers with system definition of their leading-edge products. This is a very visible position within a highly dynamic organization with clearly defined goals.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Application support of customers to ensure design-in of ZMDI advanced power management devices
- Support customer applications and circuit development to support the sales of ZMDI integrated circuits.
- Design, build and test custom demonstration circuits/boards to customer specifications to support the sales of our smart power management product line.
- Technical customer support for point-of-load (POL) controller and future controller solutions for various markets such as server, telecom, datacom and others
- Create development kit GUIs/software, which will be used by customers to evaluate ZMDI products.
- Write applications notes and design articles and providing input on new product ideas.
- Support turn-key solutions if applicable
- Evaluation of competitor controller products/solutions
- Specification, application documentation support for product package (datasheet, application notes and others)
- Customer application trainings
- Support sales and field application trainings
- Support validation and characterization of latest silicon generation
- Evaluation of new control techniques using high level modelling and FPGA platforms
- Feed application/market feedback to product management and development
Skills:
- University Degree in electrical engineering, electronics, physics or related fields
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in the development of power supplies (DC/DC, AC/DC)
- Strong Analog design skills and medium Digital hardware design skills.
- Reasonable proficiency writing simple non-production code in a high level language such as C++, C#, Visual Basic
- Experience with serial communication protocols.
- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Willingness to travel (30% of time)
