Gernot Fiedler

Former CEO of Philips Semi (now NXP)

Gernot Fiedler holds a diploma in electrical engineering from University of Munich, Germany, where he graduated in 1964.

Between 1964 and 2005 he has been working with Philips Semiconductors in Hamburg in several departments and different positions. In 1971 he became Group Leader Development, followed by several management positions.

In 2003 – after having been promoted Vice President in 1998 and Senior Vice President in 2000 – he became SVP and CEO of Philips Semiconductors Germany GmbH with a 1 billion Euro activity and more than 3.500 employees.

Mr. Fiedler has been active in several associations for years. From 2003 to 2005 he was a board member of the "Industrial Association Hamburg" (Industrieverband Hamburg) and since 2004 he is a jury member of “Initiative Ludwig-Erhard-Award”, an initiative, which awards top performances in competition.

Helmut Laub studied building services engineering at University of Applied Sciences in Esslingen, Germany, where he graduated in 1972. He thereafter started working as resident engineer at Konzmann GmbH & Co. KG in Stuttgart, Germany. In 1979 he joined Meissner+Wurst GmbH, which later merged with Zander Klimatechnik AG to become M+W Zander where he served as a project director and was involved in the company’s semiconductor cleanroom activities. Mr. Laub was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Meissner+Wurstin in 1990 and became Managing Director in 1992.

Since the foundation of M+W Zander Holding AG in 1998 Helmut Laub has been member of the Managing Board with responsibilities in its electronics business as well as R&D activities, information technology and project management systems. He was significantly involved in the strategic orientation of M+W Zander into an international leading company in plant engineering for high-tech industries and continues – after his retirement in April 2006 – working for the company as counsel.

Erich Wallner

Erich Wallner was born in 1940 and graduated from Technical University Munich, Germany, where he studied Electrical Engineering from 1960 to 1966. He then started his career at the Federal Air Navigation Authority, followed be several positions at Siemens Semiconductors from 1967 to 1999. In 1999 he was appointed Senior Vice President at Infineon, department Automotive and Industrial.

Before he retired in 2006, he has been working as Managing Director of eupec GmbH, a company, which designs, produces and distributes high quality semiconductors for energy production and allocation.

Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Reuss

Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Reuss

Professor Reuss, born in 1959 in Dusseldorf, Germany, studied Electrical Engineering at Technical University, Berlin, Germany, where he graduated in 1984. After having received his diploma he began working with Prof. Naunin as scientific assistant at the Institute of Electronic Engineering at Technical University Berlin from where he also received his Ph.D. in 1989. In the same year he started working with Philips Semiconductors Application Laboratory in Hamburg where he was mainly responsible for bus systems and micro controller for usage in motor cars.

In 1993 he was offered a professorship in Kraftfahrzeugelektronik und –elektrik at the Technical University in Dresden where he lectured until 2004. In April 2004 he changed professorships from Dresden to Stuttgart where he is now chair of Kraftfahrzeugmechatronik studies. He is member of the Managing Board of the FKFS (Forschungsinstitut für Kraftfahrwesen und Fahrzeugmotoren Stuttgart) and has been Executive Director of the IVK.

Hans-Peter Metzler was born in 1959 in Bregenz, Austria. After his studies in mathematics and physics in Innsbruck, Vienna and Munich he started his professional career in 1984 within the research department of Siemens AG in Munich. After several positions in product development, product marketing and key account management Mr. Metzler was assigned management positions with Siemens in the US (Kalifornien) and Asia (Singapur). After his return to Europe in 1997 he founded NewLogic, a small start-up company, which grew continuously and became a considerable technology provider in the semi conductor industry. In 2005 it became number 1 what concerns licensing of bluetooth and wireless lan technology. Licence holders are amongst other companies Intel, Microsoft and Infineon.

Additionally, Hans-Peter Metzler is founder and owner of Photeon Technologies GmbH as well as Managing Director and Supervisory Board Member of different companies and trusts. He is Vice President of the famous Bregenzer Festspiele.
