The AS-International Association

The AS-International Association was founded in 1991 as a user group for manufacturers and users of the AS-Interface® system. The task of the User Group is to promote bus-compatible interfaces for binary sensors and actuators. The AS-Interface solution is more an intelligent cabling system than a true fieldbus, allowing simple sensors and actuators to be linked together through a 2-wire bus including the supply voltage at a cost which has no competition. The stated goal is to become the worldwide industry standard on the lower field level. ZMD as the major supplier of components for the AS-Interface is actively working in this association on the future of these system.

The Infrared Data Association

The Infrared Data Association, often referred to as IrDA, is a non-profit organization whose goal is to develop globally adopted specifications for infrared wireless communication. Celebrating its fourteen years, IrDA was formed in 1994. The newest IrDA standards are going up to 16MB/s communication speed and ZMD is the only supplier on the market offering a whole portfolio, covering all different speed classes from 115kb/s to 16MB/s, including support of the newest IRSimple standard.

LIN

LIN is a single-wire serial communications protocol based on the common SCI (UART) byte-word interface. UART interfaces are available as low cost silicon module on almost all micro-controller and can also be implemented as equivalent in software or pure state machine for ASICs. The medium access in a LIN network is controlled by a master node so that no arbitration or collision management in the slave nodes is required, thus giving a guarantee of the worst-case latency times for signal transmission. The LIN consortia is developing the future roadmap for this single-wire Automotive bus system.

AIM Global

AIM Global is the international trade association representing automatic identification and mobility technology solution providers. Through the years, industry leaders continue to work within AIM to promote the adoption of emerging technologies. AIM Global actively supports the development of AIM standards through its own Technical Symbology Committee (TSC), Global Standards Advisory Groups, and RFID Experts Group (REG), as well as through participation at the industry, national (ANSI) and international (ISO) levels.
